Nature School & Co-op

Tuesdays & Thursdays

9:30- 1 P.M

Children ages 4 to 10 are invited to spend slow, wonder-filled mornings immersed in a seasonally based curriculum.

Families can join on Tuesdays for traditional drop-off nature school, Thursdays for Homeschool Co-op or both days.

Together we explore earth science and world cultures, helping little ones connect deeply with the rhythms of nature and the wider world around them. Seasonal crafts and handiwork inspire creativity and improve fine motor skills, while gardening, farm chores, and baking build meaningful practical skills. Hikes through the woods nurture gross motor development, resilience, and a lasting love of the natural world.

TUESDAYS: Nature class drop-off  guided by trained forest school teachers. Children learn survival skills, art, science, literature and culture.

THURSDAYS: Limited drop off spots along with a Homeschool co-op option. Parents agree to host, share lesson plans and raise money for special guest programming. Tuition for Co-op is limited to materials and extra curricular activities. Co-op parents also have the option to drop off on occasion.

Class Ratios

At Firefly we prioritize maintaining low class ratios of 1:4. This approach ensures that each child receives individualized attention, allowing them the freedom to grow and develop at their own pace. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Curriculum

We proudly offer our hybrid curriculum that seamlessly blends seasonal nature-based learning with strong academic foundations. Our program is rooted in living literature, using rich stories to foster language development, creative thinking and cultural understanding. Children engage in traditional forest school lessons alongside structured lessons in science, art and life skills. Our curriculum is enriched with STEM by Blossom & Roots and arts -based learning by Wondergarten, creating a well rounded educational experience that fosters a life long love of learning.

Space

Our learning space includes three diverse areas across 4 private acres.

The Meadow

A babbling brook running through a large flower meadow serves as our main play-space. Children spend their mornings playing at the mud kitchen, wading in the pond, or playing at the swings, hammocks, playhouse, slide and sand pit.

The Woodlands

Hiking trails alongside a large stream provide an engaging space to explore and practice survival skills

Farm

Chickens, bunnies and our school garden provide learning opportunities for life skills.
